Introduction

Children Learn Through Their Senses

Sensory play is currently seen as one of the key areas of play for babies and young children and a crucial part of their development. Sensory play is play that involves the use of one or more of the five senses: touch, sight, smell, taste or hearing.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Participant will understand that children expand their understanding of the world through their senses.

  • Participant will identify activities that will enhance sensory abilities.

  • Participant will identify ways that to build vocabulary skills through discussions with the sensory material.

  • Participant will identify how children can become more sensitive to the sights, sounds, and textures of their environment.
