Cooking Activities with Kids

Introduction

Have the children join in and help to make their own snack foods. Let the children do as much of the preparation as possible. Stay close and supervise at all times. Remember, the more you do for the children, the less they will learn. Here are some basic guidelines to follow to have fun in the kitchen.

A list of recommended website links for cooking projects, food themes, and nutrition are provided at the end of the training.

 Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify five things that children learn from cooking activities.

  • Identify how cooking activities promote physical and language development.

  • Recognize the benefits of a cooking interest area in the classroom.

  • Identify 5 tips for group cooking activities.
